A cutie little handsome boy was born to a wonderful family last November, and I had the honor of designing his birth announcement. I love how it turned out so clean, but fun. We kept the back of the card simple so that Mom could write a personal note on the announcement. What a great way to take care of those "Thank yous" too. Congrats on your handsome little bundle!

Teaser Spread Theory and SALE!

I'm totally in love with the cooler weather today. I hope it keeps up, and that Autumn isn't just teasing us. I have this theory about teasing though, it usually ends in something greater. So, I'm testing this theory that teaser spreads sell albums. I need your help though. I need photographs to design spreads with, and I need you to tease your clients and show them what their album could look like. Its a total win for you. TWO Senior Album Designs | Digital Vellum Photography

Matt Martin at Digital Vellum Photography is a fantastic Senior Photographer in Colorado. He has an eye for edgy portraits and really captures his senior clients personalities through his work. Matt recently contacted me about getting some sample albums made for his Seniors. I was so thrilled! I love the idea of Senior Albums. So many wonderful photos are captured during a session, and it is so fun to have the majority of them presented in a unique way as a keepsake. I created two sample albums: a Senior Album, and a Senior Guest Book Album.

The first is a Senior Album with several photos from Kayla's session. All with unique designs on each page. This album was designed as an 8x8.

The second album I created for Matt is a Senior Guest Book Album. This album is designed as a book that you would set out at the Seniors graduation party for family and friends to leave a sentiment. I love this idea! Each page has photos with either text or some other graphic with plenty of space for guests to fill in. This album was designed as an 8x6.

Custom Birthday Invitation

I had the honor and privilege of hosting a surprise 30th birthday party for my best friend a few weeks back. Her husband and I have been secretly planning this party for months. I had so much fun designing the invitations. I designed them with Emily in mind. She is my fashion counselor, and is always so put together with cutest clothes and accessories. I designed the invitation with one of her favorite patterns: argyle. The party was a huge success. She was definitely surprised! Happy Birthday friend!

Custom Marketing Material Design | Colorado House to Home Inspections

A few months back I was approached by a new business here in CO to design all of the start up marketing for their business launch. This included their logo, business cards, website, brochure, etc. I was so pleased with how this turned out. The logo was truly a collaborative effort. After I presented a few designs to Perry, he called me a few days later and told me that the logo design came to him in a dream. I designed his "dream" logo, and after some revisions, we had it.

Custom Wedding Album Design | Kim Shokouhi Photogrpahy

Here is another design for Kim Shokouhi Photography. This design was completed in mostly the Mat-less style with a few spreads in the Narrative style. One of the beautiful things about working so closely with my clients is that they get exactly what their clients are looking for. If that means a combination of design styles, or a new custom style, so be it.

I love working with other businesses to create one of a kind marketing pieces. This florist is near and dear to my heart. She did my wedding flowers almost 6 years ago, and she is my Grandma ;) If you are in the Denver area and need wedding flowers, look her up. You won't be disappointed. Simply put, Kim is an amazing photographer. I have been lucky enough to work with her for several years now. Her photography is simple, clean, and captures every essence of the day. I love to design for her, and I often find myself getting carried away in the photography, and really feeling like I could have been there for that wedding. Custom Marketing Material Design | The Ridge Community Church

I was asked to design a complete set of marketing materials for a local church for their building campaign. After a brief meeting with their pastor, I got busy designing a logo for the campaign as well as creating a theme. The entire marketing set was comprised of an 11x17 tri-fold brochure, a commitment form, envelopes, and a large 2.5'x7 banner. It was so much fun to see it all come together as one cohesive campaign. Patrick & Sarah Wedding Abum Design

This album was very special to me. It is the album for my brother and his new wife, Sarah. Their wedding day was beautiful, and I was so proud and happy to be apart of it. Their wedding photographer was Wild Iris Photography, but the album also has images from guests at the wedding. The ceremony was at St. Joseph Mission in Fairplay, CO, and the reception was held at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Resort in Nathrop, CO. The florist was Fleurs de Jeanne. Congrats you two! Mikey & Ryan Wedding Album Design

I was so honored when Mikey's Mom, Annie, asked me to design her parent wedding album from her daughters wedding. Mikey and Ryan were married back in November of 2008, and their wedding was photographed by Cooley Photography. I loved designing this album for Annie. She had so many details that she wanted incorporated, and I was thrilled to make the album just what she wanted. We incorporated several text elements, and included three entire spreads dedicated to what Annie called her "village". This included all of the people at the wedding who Annie considered part of her or her daughter's "village". People are important to Annie, and it was important to her that they all be included in this wedding album. I loved working so closely with Annie, and incorporating all of her ideas and her important photos to make this album perfect for her.

Custom Style: Vivid

The custom design style Vivid uses various design elements to tell the story in the photos. Background images are the canvas for all of the pages. Either an entire image, or a detail from an image will be used. This style uses borders and sometimes shadows to elevate certain images off the page. The images are presented on the page in slanted and straight lines in pleasing patterns. Graphics and text are seen through out the story. The Vivid style is great for the fun wedding, senior session, and fun family sessions.

Custom Style: Narrative

The Narrative style is a defined by the story in the photos. This design style uses full bleed background images to help the story flow from one image to another. This style is still simple in that it has thin black or white borders on images, contrasting with the primary background color, and displays images in straight lines and pleasing patterns.

The Distinctively Mat-less style is a design fit for a flush mount album with similarities to a matted album, yet it still has flares of unique design. It is a clean design. The images are placed on the pages utilizing straight lines in pleasing patterns and no background images. The backgrounds are either black or white through out the album, with a contrasting thin border around each image.

Hiched in the Highlands

Family Album

I've been wanting to post this for a while, but this album was a gift, so I didn't want to spoil any Christmas surprises. This family had their portraits taken in the late summer, but didn't really know what to do with them other than having prints made, and they wanted something more substantial. I designed this album to capture the energy that this family has. It was so fun to do, and I know that they will enjoy looking at the album for many years in the future. They also ordered enough albums to give as gifts to grandparents- fabulous idea! Here are just a few of my favorite spreads.

It's never too late

I recently delivered a wedding album to Erica and James. They were married in 2002! She had always wanted a wedding album, but she only had the negatives from her wedding pictures. We met and discussed the options. She had her negatives scanned, and then I completed the design from there. Considering that the images used were from negatives, and other image scans, and that the pictures were 7 years old, the album turned out beautifully! Congratulations Erica and James- 7 years and counting.

I thought it would be helpful to have a few pictures of completed albums to put it all together. I do the design, and then have the albums printed and bound. All of these albums are Zookbinders Albums. I like that these pictures show some of the different options for album design including guest books, scenery, wedding and parent albums. 70 Years Under the Microscope

I recently finished an album for DeeDee's father who is turning 70 this month. She provided me with photos of her dad to be scanned and made into an album and slide show. The album turned out great, and I think that it really captured her dad's life in a snapshot. Happy Birthday Ron!

Pat and Sarah's Guest Book

I'm kind of partial to this couple because Pat is my brother, and Sarah is my future sister-in-law. They were both in town a few weeks ago and they met their wedding photographer, Kristy Watts at Wild Iris Studio. They had their engagement photos taken, and they turned out beautifully. I put together their guestbook and ordered it through Zookbinders. I am so excited about this album because it is the new Photobook Plus, and I think that it will be an awesome alternative to the Zookbook for the budget conscious bride.

Mollie and Jason

Last night I ordered Mollie and Jason's wedding album from Zookbinders. I am so excited to see the final product in a few weeks. They will have a beautiful 9x12 Zookbook to show off soon. They also ordered a couple Photobooks as parent albums. I had so much fun doing this album, because they wanted the design to be a less traditional and more fun. I loved that they had the text from their ceremony handy for me to incorporate into the album. Their photographer was Jason Knopinski over at The Grin.
